THE PROJECT

The project STOLEN IMAGES INC. emerged from a strong desire to collect images and movies, and to create later on from that image database, inverting and e altering their order and aiming at proposing new and various readings and narratives. The focus of this initiative arises from a fascination with cinema, video, and sound, and this Project tries to encompass this same multidisciplinarity.

Created in 2004 by Pedro Maia, Stolen Images Inc. aims at asserting itself as an open project that will comprise the most various forms of showing and interpreting an image, and its later interconnection with sound. This project is mainly a Video-Jam or Video Art and tries to be more than just an interpretation of movies and images, seeking to include not only the traditional Video-Jamming, but also video installations, video for concerts and performance, and other artistic areas, aiming at creating a visual identity in order to accomplish each projects objectives, according to the needs and the physical spaces where these interventions occur.

Stolen Images Inc. already collaborates with some musical projects like Thomas Brinkman, Vitor Joaquim, Panda Bear (Animal Collective) Krafty Kuts, Yasuharu Konishi (Pizzicato 5), Andy Votel, Peter Kruder, Soul Of Man, Atomic Holligam, Trouble Soup, Rui Vargas, Fat Freddy, Phoebus, The Legendary Tiger Man.
